The Story of AimRank
It started with MMA fights and a master's thesis back in 2016. Two friends in a small London flat, obsessed with a simple problem: Could binary choices—just "Who wins: A or B?"—create fair, transparent rankings that actually serve fighters instead of politics?
The answer changed everything. One algorithm, Glicko2, adapted from chess and modernized with machine learning. State-of-the-art results from the simplest possible input. Finally, fighters could be ranked by math, not favoritism.
For years, it was our on-and-off obsession. Weekend coding sessions. Late-night discussions about "what if we applied this to everything?" The thesis gathered dust between day jobs, but the idea never left us. Every UFC event reminded us what we'd discovered—not just prediction accuracy, but fairness through mathematics. Every binary choice in daily life looked like data we should be capturing.
Today, we're building the bridge from thesis to practice. Through AI services—document intelligence, workflow automation, AI agents, predictive analytics—we're step by step assembling the universal preference ranking system. Each project teaches us how to make human decisions count in the AI economy.
From fair fighter rankings to universal intelligence. From serving athletes to serving humanity. From a London flat to the AI economy. Still the same two friends (but expanding). Still the same belief: Everything is A or B. And everything deserves transparency through simple, objective methods.
